Does it pay to stand for Jesus and be different from others? Living your life to the glory of God has blessings attached to it. God is not a ‘user of men’ but a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). This post tells you what you will gain for separating your life for Jesus.

So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days – Exodus 23:25-26 (NKJV)

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name – Psalm 91:14 (NKJV)

It takes one having love for God to be different for Jesus. Your love for God empowers you to obey His instructions and to desire to please God. It enables you to despise the mockery that may come for choosing to be different for Jesus. However, everything you do towards the name of Christ will not go unnoticed, God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love (Hebrews 6:10)

God is a covenant keeping God. He has a covenant to bless those who serve Him (Exodus 23:25-26).  Apart from eternal life (1 John 2:25) that awaits them at resurrection, they have blessings of which they enjoy on earth, and these blessings include:

Divine favour

God promised to surround the righteous with favour as with a shield (Psalm 5:12). This is an unbeatable blessing of God. When God favours a man, nothing can be an obstacle on his way to victory, success and deliverance (Psalm 44:3, Psalm 89:17)

Divine direction

When you stand for God, living your life for the name of Christ, God will cause your ears to hear His divine guidance and direction. You will not miss it in decision-making, for your teacher will not be far from you (Isaiah 30:20-21)

Divine provisions

Being different for Christ provokes God’s blessings on your bread and your water, such that you will not lack any good thing (Psalm 84:11). If need be, God can send birds to feed you like He did for Elijah (1 Kings 17) and cause water to come out from a rock for you (Exodus 17:6). He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). What He did for others years back He will still do for you today.

Total health

God says that He will take away sickness and diseases from you for serving Him (Exodus 23:25). Total health is the heritage of those who are for Christ. God has ordained that you live in good health as your soul prospers (3 John 2)

Long life

God will satisfy with long life anyone who sets his love on Him (Psalm 91:16), the number of his days God will fulfil (Exodus 23:26). Hezekiah understood this and asked for the residue of his days on the basis of his service unto God and he got 15 more years (Isaiah 38:2-5)

Divine protection

For you to be totally different for Christ you must dwell in His presence and anyone who does so enjoys absolute protection from all assaults of the enemy, no matter the angle through which they may come (Psalm 91). For example, Daniel enjoyed divine protection inside the lions’ den because of his stand for God (Daniel 6)

Answered Prayers

Answered prayer is one of the benefits of being different for Jesus. When you call, God will answer you (Psalm 91:15). God hears the cry of the righteous (Psalm 34:17) and if He hears it then He surely will grant his petitions (1 John 5:15)

Promotion

Promotion is from the Lord; He lifts up one and puts the other down (Psalm 75:6-7). And surely, God will lift him who stands for Christ. Shadrach, Meshach and Abed–nego were men who were different for God and they enjoyed promotion from God above their peers (Daniel 3)

These blessings are the heritage of those that have chosen to live for God, to be different for the name of Christ. Therefore, it is indeed a wise decision to live for God, for the benefits of doing so out-weighs anything you may gain not doing so.

Jesus is Lord!
