Prayer: The Missing Link II

0

Hi Jesus loves you.

Here is the concluding part of this article by my mentor Pastor (Mrs) Oyedepo.

—————————————————————————

family Faith Oyedepo2 150x126 Prayer: The Missing Link IIHaving discussed the importance of a living family altar in our homes in part I of this teaching, I would like to go further in this write-up to examine the blessings that accrue to us when we give prayer its rightful place.

Benefits Of Family Altar

When altars were raised in the Bible in the worship of God, the glory of God descended and it commanded the miraculous. When Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal in the book of 1kings 18: 20-39, he too built an altar and called on the name of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Lord answered by fire and the name of the Lord was magnified. It is also written in the scriptures that:

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them (Mathew 18:20).

Therefore the number one benefit of the family altar is that it brings down the presence of God in your home. What a blessing! Having God’s perpetual presence should be the ultimate quest of every Christian home, because think of it; what can we do without His presence? Absolutely nothing! So when you, too, allow your family to raise an altar of worship unto the Lord, you will discover that the Prince of Peace will tabernacle in your home and you will begin to enjoy the blessings of God’s presence in a new dimension.

Read Psalm 114. I want you to take time to read this passage and you will get a clear picture of what you stand to enjoy in His presence.

I see everything that represents the sea of Jordan negatively as well as mountains and hills being driven back from your home, and every evil rock being turned into standing water before you in Jesus’ name.

You need God’s presence in your home more than anything else, so make it a habit to gather your family members and pray together regularly. The Bible says (more…)

Prayer: The Missing Link I

10

Hi Jesus loves you.

As we draw close to the end of this wonderful year and the beginning of a new year, there is need for us to look into the place of prayer in the family. A man of God said that what you are experiencing today is a result of prayers said or not said yesterday(s). So, you determine the future of your family by your prayers today. Today, I would like to share an article from one of my mentors (Pastor Faith Oyedepo) on Family Altar. Enjoy and be blessed.

———————————————————————————————

family Faith Oyedepo1 150x126 Prayer: The Missing Link IIn today’s fast-paced world, where men and women are busy working round the clock to make ends meet, most Christian homes have long forgotten this integral part of the family foundation, which is the family altar.

What is family altar?

The word family altar simply means a time when all family members gather together in worship, sharing of the Word and in prayer. One of the gimmicks of the devil to attack homes today is to successfully lure them away from praying together, and before you know what is happening, the family that was once happy and united, gradually falls apart. No wonder a wise man said ‘the family that prays together stays together.’ No doubt, prayer is one of the foundation stones of a happy family. Therefore, watch out so that your foundation does not get out of place.

The Bible says:

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3).

I would like to share with you the purposes of the family altar. Myles Munroe said, “If the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable,” I agree absolutely.

The Purpose of Family Altar

As seen from the above definition, it is a time set aside deliberately and purposely to worship God and to reverence His Word.

Not only should it be a time of prayer, but the Word of God must be shared during your family devotion as well. (more…)

Building the Right Foundation for Marriage

1

Foundation 150x150 Building the Right Foundation for MarriageHi, Jesus loves you!

Marriage is one of the most beautiful things God made. It is one of the channels where we exercise our God-like nature of love and commitment to responsibilities. Successful marriages and healthy families are not wished to be but they are worked. And building the right foundation is most necessary if you want your marriage and family to stand the test of time.

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3, KJV). How successful you want your home to be determines how deep and strong your foundation should be. The challenges will certainly come but whether your family will overcome is determined by the type of foundation you have laid.

Jesus Christ is the most dependable, reliable and durable foundation. Building your marriage and family on Jesus is the wisest thing to do if you are going to enjoy a successful marriage and healthy family. God instituted marriage and therefore has the manual for building great ones.

Your relationship with Jesus determines the kind of relationship you will have with your spouse and children. When you know how to talk, relate or respond to Jesus, you will know how to do same with your family.

Many people desire successful marriages and healthy families but they are far from seeing it because they are far from Jesus. As you build your relationship with Jesus, you are building yourself to enjoy your marriage and a healthy family.

You cannot separate your personal spiritual growth from the growth of your family. How far you grow spiritually will manifest in your relationship with your family. When every family member is growing spiritually, it becomes difficult for the enemy to overcome the family.

Obedience to Christ is obedience to the word of God. That means the word of God is the right foundation for successful marriages and healthy families. A family that obeys the principles of God’s word will always enjoy peace and harmony. The scriptures lay down the steps or instructions to follow if you are to enjoy successful marriage and healthy family. (more…)

Family Success and All Round Success

Family success 150x150 Family Success and All Round SuccessJesus loves you

Imagine an executive woman that is a miserable wife and a depressed mother. Imagine a successful businessman with one or two wanted people as family members. Success in life is always threatened or hindered by lack of family success. All round success is only possible when there is peace, love and harmony in the family.

The emotional stress and strain that come with troubled family will inevitably affect your productivity at work. The mind is crowded with worried thoughts and cannot focus to reason well. Your relationship with co-workers, clients or staff deteriorates and everything goes haywire. Success in life is hinged to your family success.

No matter how insignificant an issue at home may seem initially, if not curbed may escalate to an undesirable situation. There is need for one to pay more attention to the family and make every necessary contribution towards her success. A family is like a garden that needs to be attended to regularly; otherwise, the weeds will over power the crops.

It is an erroneous decision to ignore the family and pursue your personal success. This is because a bad family reputation will haunt you. If you have a thief in the family, you will always be referred to as the sister or brother of the thief. A Leopard cannot run away from its spots.

So, what do you do to enjoy family success and success in life? How do you affect the lives of your family members?

  • Appreciate them – No one is a member of your family by mistake. Everyone is there to complement the others and bring out the best from the rest of the family. There is need for you to appreciate, honour and respect everyone of them. Make everyone to feel needed and important in the home. (more…)
