Peace robbersHi, Jesus loves you

What can rob your peace of mind? There are little foxes that you must beware of if you want to consistently be at peace. These foxes when not warded off have the power to destroy whatever they can lay their paws on. Therefore it is most important that you identify and deal with them.

Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes. – Song of Solomon 2:15 (NKJV)

Peace I leave with you; My [own] peace I now give and bequeath to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. [Stop allowing yourselves to be agitated and disturbed; and do not permit yourselves to be fearful and intimidated and cowardly and unsettled.] – John 14:27 (AMP)

God has given you peace of mind through His son Jesus, but you need to diligently guard your heart in order to keep away anything that may trouble it. The root cause of no peace is lack of focus on Jesus, the Prince of peace. Anything that aims at taking your focus off Jesus is targeting your peace. Therefore, you must ensure that you deny these little foxes access to your heart.

The peace robbers

1.      Love of money

For the love of money is a root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have been led astray and have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many acute [mental] pangs. 1 Timothy 6:10 (AMP)

Money is good but when you put it before God, it becomes destructive. When money becomes your god, it takes control of the running of your life. You tend to have misplaced priorities; nothing else will matter to you. For instance, your relationships, family become not important, which will eventually lead to family or relationship breakdown.

Also, your mind will be so pre-occupied with how to make this money, stressing you up that it will have a negative pull on your health.

2.      Contention

The beginning of strife is like releasing water; Therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts. Proverbs 17:14 (NKJV)

Contention is a common little fox that robs people of peace of mind. You cannot have strife and have peace at the same time. One must give way for the other.  Once contention steps in, peace steps out.

3.      Cares of life

And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest? Luke 12: 25-26 (NKJV)

Worrying about what to eat, drink or wear, or about paying bills, etc, robs your peace of mind. Anxiety has no record of offering solution to problems, instead it’s known to compound issues. Yes, do whatever is right within your power to solve the problem but ensure that you do not step over to anxiety. Allow God to take care of that challenge for you.

4.      Fear

There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror! For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and [so] he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love [is not yet grown into love’s complete perfection]. 1 John 4:18 (AMP)

Fear precipitates no peace. Fear of failure or the unknown, etc torments the mind and slows down progress. Fear says, “God step aside, you can’t solve the problem” Fear takes your focus off Jesus and places it on the challenge facing you. It troubles the heart and dispels your peace of mind.
