Greatness of God's mercies

Hi, Jesus loves you.

Do you know how great God’s mercy is? Something amazing is really happening between God and man! Men still forsake their maker; they continuously provoke Him to anger by their words, thoughts and actions, even to a greater measure than before. But they seem to get away with it this time. What is happening?  The truth is that God’s mercy is awesome in our time!

Therefore the Lord heard this and was furious; So a fire was kindled against Jacob, And anger also came up against Israel, Because they did not believe in God, And did not trust in His salvation – Psalm 78:21-22 (NKJV)

It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not. [Mal. 3:6.] – Lamentations 3:22 (AMP)

God’s anger, in generations before us, raged against anybody who disobeyed Him. They always had His judgment meted out on them, sometimes immediately. People incurred God’s wrath by not believing in Him and not trusting in His salvation.

But now it seems different; even those who were church goers or were born and bred in a Christian setting say that there is no God, that heaven and hell are not real. They believe that if everything is going well for you, then you are in heaven and if not then you are in hell. What a warped mindset!

It seems as if God is sleeping or He has lost His powers to punish disobedience. The wickedness of the wicked knows no bound. And some true Christians are getting confused and are being mocked for their faith and loyalty to God. What is happening?

The answer is that the mercy of God is overflowing and flooding the world. By the mercies of the Lord, your sins are overlooked and you are not consumed. Also men are given more time to repent and turn from their evil ways. What happened, you may ask?

The blood of Jesus did it all! The death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ expanded the bowels of God’s mercies greatly. Men are forgiven their sins and judgment is delayed for Christ’s sake. Christ’s blood is speaking better things than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12:24): amongst others, it speaks mercy on our behalf.

Now, not only does the mercy of God triumph over judgment (James 2:13), what we ordinarily cannot get, it supernaturally delivers to us. When you recognize your short comings and turn to God for His mercies, your limitations are swallowed up by God’s unlimited abilities.

Furthermore, wherever and whenever Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is acknowledged and celebrated, God’s mercy is released in abundance. Any time you plead for the mercies of God in faith, Christ intervenes on your behalf.

A cry of mercy, God will never ignore. Blind Bartimaeus understood this and cried out aloud for Jesus to have mercy on him. People tried to stop him but he cried out the more and Jesus heard him and restored his eye sight – Mark 10:46-52

Truly, if not for God’s mercies, the waters would have drowned us and our enemies would have swallowed us up (Psalm 124:1-5), for iniquity greatly abounds. The devourer would have completely devoured the ignorant and helpless.

If you have ever lost anything, it is by the Lord’s mercy that you didn’t lose everything. If things are not going well for you for now, it is by the mercies of God that you are not consumed.

So, what do you do? Be forever thankful for God’s mercies upon your life (Psalm 136), even if they are in drops. And like Blind Bartimaeus connect to His mercies for divine interventions.

What else can you say about the Lord’s mercies?
