How powerful are your spiritual eyes? How far and what you can see determine what comes to you.  Many are looking but seeing nothing and this is affecting the full delivery of God’s promises to them. This post is a call to re-evaluate what you see with your spiritual eyes.

Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from your law – Psalm 119:18 (NKJV)

So he said, “You have asked a hard thing. Nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so for you; but if not, it shall not be so.” – 2 Kings 2:2 (NKJV)

How much of God’s promises you experience in your life depends on how much of it you see with your spiritual eyes. If you can see the promise of God in the word of God, you will have it. When you see it, your understanding comes alive, and then will you have it. It’s not enough to read the word of God, you have to go beyond reading to seeing it, only then will the truth come alive in you. And when you see it with your spiritual eyes, no matter how long it takes you will see it with your physical eyes.

God demonstrated this principle in many places in the scriptures. In Genesis 13:14-15, God promised to give Abraham all the land he could see: northward, southward, eastward and westward. I believe he saw the land with his spiritual eyes, because the land God gave the Israelites when they came out from Egypt, a man’s physical eyes can’t see all of it.

Also in Jeremiah 1:11-14, God got Jeremiah to see His word before He could relate His message to him. In one, He told him, “You have seen well”. How well do you see? Jeremiah needed to understand God’s word before carrying it to others, and it was preceded by him seeing it first. God walked in the same manner with Zechariah (Zechariah 4:1-14, 5:1-4)

Furthermore, in 2 Kings 2: 9-12, Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. Elijah told him that he had asked a hard thing but that if he sees him he would have it. Elisha saw him and got the double portion of his spirit. Certainly, he couldn’t have been with his physical eyes; otherwise, it wouldn’t have been a serious condition.

In 2 Kings 6:15-17, Elisha’s servant was afraid of the enemies around them and Elisha prayed that God would open his eyes and God did it. He saw the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. Surely, he wasn’t physically blind; otherwise he wouldn’t have seen the enemies around them.

The man of God, Dr David Oyedepo in one of his services said that he saw himself preaching to multitudes when they were only a handful at the beginning stage of his ministry. Today, he pastors a fifty-seater auditorium, and they hold five services every Sunday.

Therefore, the day you see God as your “

All-Sufficiency”, you will not lack again. When you see Him as your Healer, sickness will lose its power over you. Whatever you can see from the word of God with your spiritual eyes you will have.

How to get your eyes opened

Ask God – Ask God to open your eyes to behold the wondrous things out of His law – Psalm 119:18. As you study the word, ask God to help you to go beyond the letters to the Spirit behind the word (2 Corinthians 3:6)

Holy Communion – This is another channel by which your spiritual eyes can be opened. Jesus kept talking to the disciples about Himself in Luke 24:13-31, yet they did not recognize Him. But when He served them communion, their eyes were opened and they knew Him.

In conclusion, the promises of God in His word are your inheritance in Christ. However, you need to see them for you to have them. And the good news is that the Holy Spirit is there to help you out. Ask God to open your eyes today and grow in the multitude of blessings that will be made manifest in your life.

Jesus is Lord!
