Are there days, months, and years you wish you could retrieve back? The good news is that it is possible to restore those years. It may not be as you think but if you believe the lost time can be restored. This post tells you that God says, “I will restore to you the years”

So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you – Joel 2:25 (NKJV).

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths – Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)

Introduction

The enemy may have fought you sometime back with challenges that left you with lost days, months, or years, don’t be dismayed because you can get them back. Those who laughed at you will come and rejoice with you. God says what He means and means what He says. He has no idle word. Therefore when He says He will restore the years eaten up believe Him for it shall be so. He only needs you to believe Him and His words and it shall be so. Just don’t lean on your understanding or reasoning on how it will happen and God will direct your path to restoration.

Let’s consider some scriptural examples

Abraham and Sarah

The scriptures tell the story of Abraham and Sarah’s wait for the fruit of the womb. When God finally gave them Isaac, He gave them long life to see the child grow to manhood. Abraham lived up to 175 years (Genesis 25:7-8) and saw his grandchildren from Isaac, and Sarah lived up to 127 years, being the only woman whose age at death was recorded in the bible (Ellicott’s Commentary for English Readers). I believe it was recorded, among other reasons, for us to note the restoration God gave Sarah. The Lord gave her time to enjoy motherhood like other women, even in old age. Furthermore, God fulfilled great promises through the child that made the years of waiting nothing to think about.

Jephthah

In Judges 11, a story about Jephthah was recorded. He was the son of a prostitute and because of that, he was driven away from his people. However, he was a man who knew his God. A time came when God rolled away the years of shame and reproach from him. His people returned to him for help in fighting against their enemy. Jephthah returned to his homeland, not as a stigmatized person but as a ruler over his people.

Joseph

Joseph had great dreams of being great, but all those were thrown away for years. He went from bad to worse before his change came. He may have considered that his fruitful years were being wasted, but he held onto God’s words to him, and at the appropriate time God showed up. God turned the years into years he would forever thank God for. He moved from prison to the palace within one day (Genesis 41:39-41), and became a slave turned into a ruler in the land of his captivity!

Conclusion

There is nothing impossible with God (Luke 1:37). If you can believe God, all things are possible to you (Mark 9:23). God can restore those years you consider wasted. Just believe His word, serve Him wholeheartedly, and expect Him to do what He said. No matter how long it takes, hold on till your change comes, for it will surely come.
