Are you struggling with obeying the Lord? The proof of your love for God is your obedience to all His instructions. However, obeying Him totally is not an easy thing considering that you engage your flesh in a battle in the process. This post states the grace of God as a requirement for obeying the Lord all the time.

So he answered and said to me: this is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts – Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV).

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me – I Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV).

Many Christians truly desire to obey Christ all the time but they are weak when it comes to contending with the desires of their flesh. The good they desire to do, they find themselves not doing; but the evil they don’t want to do, they find themselves doing. However, the good news is that through Jesus Christ you can overcome this battle (Romans 7:15-25). Jesus gives us the grace (John 1:17) to obey the word of God.

You cannot by yourself obey God, for it is not by your might nor power but by the help of the Holy Spirit (Zechariah 4:6), which comes in the form of the grace of God. Grace is an unearned, undeserved favour of God. It enables you to do what you normally or ordinarily would not be able to do.

Paul testified that all his achievements can only be attributed to the grace of the Lord that was with him. Grace enabled him to labour more abundantly than the rest of the apostles, though he was the least of them all (1 Corinthians 15:9-10). He was able to obey the call of God on His life (Acts 26:19), though he faced a lot of challenges on the way (2 Corinthians 11:22-33). The Grace of God empowered and sustained him all the time. He testified that God told him that His grace is sufficient for him, in that His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

You need the grace of the Lord to obey the Father on a daily basis. On your own you will keep missing it and that may cost you eternal life in heaven. Ask God for the grace to obey Him, grow in the knowledge of God (2 Peter 1:2), believe that you receive it and you will discover that you easily obey God.
