Why are there no consistent and continuous flow of signs and wonders, miracles like the days of the apostles? God is still the God of signs and wonders today but He is limited by the vessels that carry the anointing. Most of the vessels want to be used, but they are too busy to be used by God. This post aims at redirecting God’s vessels to the most important thing to do to be used of God.

Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work – 2 Timothy 2:21 (NKJV).

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us – 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NKJV).

The preparations of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord – Proverbs 16:1 (NKJV).

God uses human beings most of the time to do signs and wonders, but when the vessels are not adequately prepared to be used, nothing happens. There are so much physical preparations but little spiritual preparations with church of Christ now. God is the worker of signs and wonders and miracles, but until He does His work, nothing happens in spite of all the physical preparations.

God’s vessels plan, organize, strategize, prepare, spend money, do everything for an event or service to be successful and end it there, leaving out the main worker (the Holy Spirit). They spend a lot of time preparing physically for an event but spend little or no time engaging the worker of miracles. Who will take the glory at the end? God will not share His glory with any other god or man (Isaiah 42:8).

God wrought great signs and wonders through the apostles (Acts 5:12-16). They were vessels of honour indeed, useful for the master, prepared for every good work (2 Timothy 2:21). The apostles were nothing more than vessels. They concentrated on being vessels meet for the master, gave themselves to the word and to prayer (Acts 6:4). Even those who served the table were men of the Spirit (Acts 6:5). The apostles’ success secret was their ability to soak themselves with the power of God through prayers and studying of the word. They spent more time in God’s presence, and afterwards just obeyed the instructions of God (Acts 5:19-21, 29)

It is wisdom to prepare physically for events or services etc., however, if you are going to see signs and wonders you need to prepare more spiritually. Even your physical preparations need God’s approval. Finished your preparations? Present them to God, let Him come and take over, supervise, correct, tear down flesh, build, and put His finishing touches.

Focus more on being just a vessel and allow God to use you as He wills. A vessel does not use itself. Make the vessel ever ready to be used and then obey, so that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of you (2 Corinthians 4:7). Signs and wonders will occur when the flesh is not interfering with the move of the Holy Spirit. There is great revival when the Holy Spirit is in absolute control. Though preparation is for man to do, the answers however, are from the Lord (Proverbs 16:1).

Truly, you are for signs and for wonders (Isaiah 8:18), but if you are going to see the manifestation of them, you need to be more prepared spiritually than physically. Let God take over and take all the glory!

Jesus is Lord!
