Should you attend church services with the Coronavirus pandemic? Now, Churches can hold services in some places. However, many Christians are yet to resume services in their various churches. But these same persons go to the shops, banks, markets and their offices. Should going to church during COVID-19 then be an issue?
But on Mount Zion there shall be deliverance, And there shall be holiness; The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions – Obadiah 1:17 (NKJV).
For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them – Matthew 18:20 (NKJV).
The cases of COVID-19 have made many people not to go out the way they use to. And most people only go out of their residence when they have no other choice. So, many places are presently out of bounds for such people. And the church is one such place. But should the church be part of them?
The main cause
Fear of death is the main reason why some people don’t attend church services during this pandemic. And this is because of the numerous reported death cases of people who contracted the COVID-19. So, everyone is trying as much as lies within their power to avoid contracting the virus.
Should you avoid church services?
You’re to adhere to the recommended precautions for avoiding COVID-19 disease at all times once outside your residence. These include the social distancing, wearing face masks, and the use of sanitizer and frequent washing of hands.
In some of the places where people go, these precautions are difficult to adhere to. For instance, in the open markets with much crowd, it’s not easy to obey the social distancing precautions. However, this can be managed effectively in churches
How?
The churches fumigate the premises against the Coronavirus as often as they need to. Also, they provide hand-washing points at the entrances with sanitizers. And they space out the chairs to adhere to the social distancing precaution. Furthermore, the worshippers wear masks in church, and the duration of services is shortened.
Spiritual covering
Apart from the physical protection, there is also the spiritual covering in the churches. This is because wherever people gather in the name of the Lord, the Lord Almighty is always there (Matthew 18:20). And wherever God is, the enemy can’t be there and that includes his agents like COVID-19.
Also, in churches, there is deliverance and people possess their possession, including healing (Obadiah 1:17). Again, the worshippers get to hear the word of God that destroys any fear in them. And the word of God also builds up their faith in God and His ability to shield them from the virus. Therefore, attending a church service is good.
God is your refuge
At this time of the pandemic, God remains your true refuge (Psalm 91:2). Therefore, you’re to run into Him and not away from Him. The God who protected the Israelites in the wilderness day and night is still alive. And He will shield His children from this pandemic. He has promised that no evil will befall you and no plague will come near your dwelling (Psalm 91:10). However, you must believe that He will do as He had said.
Conclusion
Therefore, it’s good not to avoid where your help will come from, the church. If you can go about your business and other activities, then you can attend church services, receive your blessings, and get fortified. This you can do while taking all the necessary precautions.
