Hi, Jesus loves you.

What is more important-how people see you or how God sees you? Many people are desperate to be wealthy but are not even concerned about how God sees them. They forget that He made them and that He will be there on judgment day. This post emphasizes the importance of being rich before God.

Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’ – and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and hasten. Therefore be zealous and repent – Revelations 3:17-19 (NKJV).

Many people are doing so many things to be rich. Some are actually overworking themselves and some are into dubious things, while others are into Christian activities just to have God prosper them. You need to always remember that money is not everything.

Is it wrong to be rich? Not at all. God says that He takes pleasure in our prosperity (Psalm 35:27) and that He is the one who teaches us to prosper (Isaiah 48:17). He also wishes above all things that we prosper and be in health even as our souls prosper (3 John 2).

However, the question is, “how does God see you?” He said in Revelations 3:17-19 that those who thought they were rich were actually poor, wretched, miserable, blind and naked! Are there no rich persons before God? Surely, there are many people who are rich before God. What makes them different from other wealthy people is their garment and where they got their wealth.

It is important that you get your wealth from God and more importantly that your garment is white. Your stand with God is the ultimate determinant of how God sees you. Without a white garment, you are naked before God and amounts to nothing. Your garment has to be spotless, without wrinkles nor blemish (Ephesians 5:27).

It is better to be rich before God for eternity than to be rich for a few years on earth. Everything you do on earth is a preparation for where you will spend eternity (Matthew 25:46). If it is not so, Jesus wouldn’t have talked about preparing a place for His disciples (John 14:1-3). Remember if the life of Jesus occurred as was prophesied, eternity in heaven or hell will not be different.

The story of Lazarus and the rich man (Luke 16:19-22) is a good example of this message. Abraham was rich (Genesis 13:2) and went to heaven, the rich man was rich and went to hell. The rich man, though he was rich on earth, was actually poor, wretched and naked before God. When he died, he was taken to where he had prepared for himself while on earth.

God is asking you to be more conscious of how He sees you than how man sees you. As many as He loves, God rebukes and chastises. It is not His will that you perish but that you will have eternal life (2 Peter 3:9). Therefore choose to repent and be zealous for God today, and not only will you receive gold from God, you will also receive your white garment too.
