How do you see God’s glory in the church? Surely, some Christians have wondered this in their hearts. So, in today’s post, we will look at it! Here we go,
1. Clean up
This is the first thing to do. The Lord cannot come in the midst of filth! (Habakkuk 1:13) You have to clean up your life to attract God. Also, the level of His glory you see is determined by how much of your life you have surrendered to Him. And every step you take towards Him determines how many steps He will take towards you (James 4:8).
When the Lord wanted to reveal Himself (His glory, for no one can see God and live) to the Israelites in the wilderness, He asked them to clean up. This they did and He showed up (Exodus 19:10-20).
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes. And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the LORD will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.
Exodus 19:10-11 NKJV
Therefore, if you want to see the glory of God in your church, the church members must clean up their lives. They’re to live right before the Lord, for without holiness no man shall see Him (Hebrews 12:14)
2. Fasting and prayer
This subdues the flesh and allows your spirit to get the upper hand in your life. And it makes your spirit more sensitive to the voice and move of God. This draws the Lord to you. So, when a church fasts and prays truly, they will attract the Father into their midst.
An example is seen in the book of Acts 13:1-3. Some prophets and teachers came together to fast and pray. And as they ministered to God, He came into their midst and gave them an instruction to carry out.
As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away -Acts 13:2-3 NKJV
3. Expectation
You must expect to encounter the Lord in every service, for He said He would be where two or three gather in His name (Matthew 18:20). So, go to church with great expectation to encounter God. Surely, He reveals Himself to you specifically in any way He chooses during the service. It can be during the praise time, choir ministration, testimonies or the word session, etc.
In Acts 1:4-5, Christ told His disciples not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. So, they obeyed and waited in the upper room, and continued in prayer and supplication as they waited for the baptism. Then, when the day of Pentecost was fully come, the Holy Spirit came upon them.
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance – Acts 2:1-4 NKJV
Conclusion
God desires to dwell with His people and manifest His glory and great signs and wonders in their midst. However, He will not go to where He’s not invited or the people are not ready to have Him. Therefore, let us do the needful to see the glory of God in our churches.
