Hi, Jesus loves you.

Do you desire to be celebrated in your field? Then you need to learn the traits for success. Success is yours if you are ready to be and do what it takes to be successful. Knowing what to be and being it is very crucial if you want to excel in your niche. This article aims at exposing King David’s two important leadership traits that made him successful as a king.

He also chose David His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; from following the ewes that had young He brought him, to shepherd Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands – Psalm 78:70-72 (NKJV)

God is the ultimate leader and He makes leaders out of those who are ready to be nurtured into leadership positions. And King David was a powerful king nurtured by God. He had two powerful leadership traits that made him a celebrity that never dies.

Who was King David?

He was the Last of the eight sons of Jesse, a shepherd that became one of the greatest kings of Israel. He was a man with a passionate love for God and for his people, called a man after God’s heart by God Himself (Acts 13:22). He was also a powerful warrior and a great psalmist. And he was an ancestor of Jesus Christ. King David’s story runs from 1 Samuel 16 through 1 Kings 2.

The two traits manifested by King David qualified him as the next king of Israel after King Saul. These qualities first established him as a successful shepherd and then king of Israel.

What are these leadership traits?

These qualities are integrity of heart and skillfulness of hands.

Integrity of heart means an honest heart, a heart that adheres to moral and ethical values. It means integrity, completeness, fullness, innocence, simplicity, uprightness, perfection – not in the sense of being flawless, but being matured and whole. There should be consistencies between what you say and who you are.

Skillfulness of hands means exercising an ability, coming from a deep knowledge and understanding of one’s work coupled with practice and aptitude, to do something well.

It is exhibiting competent excellence in everything you do.

These are essential qualities of a leader who wants to be celebrated. You need to be a person of integrity and a person that actually understands his work and does it excellently well.

King David was a moral and honest shepherd, and he also knew how to successful take care of his sheep and protect them. God saw how he led the sheep and promoted him to leading His people. And David led them likewise and God called him a man after His own heart.

You need to maintain your integrity of heart and consistently upgrade your skills. Skillfulness of hands is an important quality to be acquired, if you are to be successful in your field. God recognizes this fact and that was why He gave Bezaleel the son of Uri not just wisdom but also skill, to do the work that He had commanded- Exodus 31:2-5.

In conclusion, though David manifested some flaws like adultery, his leadership traits for success not only secured a throne in Israel for him but also made him an eternal celebrity. So, learn from King David and do likewise and you will soon be celebrated in your field.

What other leadership traits can you mention?
