What next

Hi, Jesus loves you

Knowledge is powerful and its application most profitable. Knowing the impact names have on your life is one thing and doing something about it is another. You have the choice to choose life or death, choose life that you may live. This post stresses the need for you to exercise the power at your disposal to determine how names impact your destiny.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? – Acts 2:37 (NKJV)

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live – Deuteronomy 30:19 (NKJV)

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves – James 1:22 (NKJV)

When Peter finished preaching to the multitude, they asked him and the other apostles what they should do. Every word of God you hear will only benefit you when you act on it. James charges us in James 1:22, not to be hearers only but also doers of the word. The knowledge of the power of names that you have now has set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; and is encouraging you to choose life that you and your generation may live – Deuteronomy 30:19. Truly, the choice is yours!

What should you do?

  • Prayerfully choose the names you give a person, place or event.

“Any name” is not accepted. You need to seek God’s face before naming a person, place or event. You have the power to put that person, place or event on a pedestal; don’t jeopardize the subject’s destiny. God has a plan and purpose for every individual, place and event He sanctions; a name from Him will give you the summary of this plan and purpose. Impact names are worth the time spent to get them from God.

  • Avoid Events with names detrimental to your destiny

It is pure wisdom not to throw yourself into what will destroy you, no matter what people will say; it is your life and destiny. Everything may be permissible for you, but not all things are helpful or good for you. Everything may be lawful for you, but it is wisdom for you not to become the slave of anything or be brought under its power – 1 Corinthians 6:12.

  • Have negative names changed.

Yes, you couldn’t have stopped your parents from giving you the negative name you are bearing, but now you are grown and know the impact names have on you, what reason will you give for continuing with the name? Change the name and turn the course of your life to God’s glorious path for your life.

  • Enlighten and pray for the uniformed persons

God said in Hosea 4:6 that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Ignorance of the power of names is one of the reasons for the downfall of many people. In a case, where your relatives are not in support of your decision to change your name, it is your duty to enlighten them with the truth, and pray for them to gain understanding. When they see the light, they will join you in enjoying the benefits of a good name.

  • Call and answer names with understanding and faith

Through wisdom a life is built, and by understanding it is established – Proverbs 24:3. Your name impact is established as you call and answer it with understanding, and when mixed with faith your profit is inevitable. As the prophecy in the name is continuously declared, faith is born, giving rise to the desired result.

The thoughts God has towards you are thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give you a hope and future – Jeremiah 29:11. But a bad name can hinder the fulfillment of God’s thoughts in your life. So, what should you do now?
