Holy Spirit Power

Hi, Jesus loves you,

Have you ever wondered why some people get answers to their prayers faster than others? God answers to prayers prayed according to His word but not at the same speed with everyone. It is according to the power that works in you. This post emphasizes the need to increase the working of God’s power within you if you want to receive answered prayers faster.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us – Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV, emphasis mine)

It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear – Isaiah 65:24 (NKJV)

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you – Romans 8:11 (NKJV)

God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you will ask or think, but it is according to the power that works in you. There is nothing impossible for God to do, but we are the ones limiting God by our thoughts, words and actions. And these are dependent on the power of God’s word within us, which determines the power that is at work in us.

Jesus said that it is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. And that the words that He spoke to us are spirit and they are life – John 6:63. So, the more of His words that you receive, the more of the Spirit you receive too;  and the Spirit of God is the power of God at work in Christian believers, but in different levels and anointing.

Ephesians 1:19-20 makes us to understand that the exceeding greatness of God’s power toward us who believe is according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead; and Romans 8:11 tells us that God raised Christ by His Spirit. Therefore, the Holy Spirit is God’s mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead.

Furthermore, Romans 8:11 also makes us to understand that if the Spirit of God dwells in you, God will through His spirit that dwells in you give life to your mortal body. It also means that if the Holy Spirit dwells in you, God would be able to manifest the exceeding greatness of His power in all areas of your life.

However, the question is “why is it that some enjoy this manifestation of God’s power more than the others?”

It is according to the power that “works in you” and not that “just dwells in you”! At new birth (salvation), the Holy Spirit comes and dwells in you. But as you allow Him to lead you through the knowledge of God’s word, the Holy Spirit will start working greatly in you. And as you rely more on the help of the Holy Spirit, you will discover that you now receive your answered prayers faster than you used to, till you get to a point that before you call, God will answer; and while you are yet speaking, He will hear (Isaiah 65:24), because the Holy Spirit knows your needs and is able to communicate them to God on your behalf.

This is the reason some new believers receive faster than some who had known Christ for a longer period. They rely on the Holy Spirit more than their self-righteousness. Nevertheless, God’s mercy also plays a great part in the life of a new believer. But as you grow in the Lord, God will expect more from you (Luke 12:48); He will expect you to exercise your faith by the help of the Holy Spirit working in you – Philippians 2:13.

Now, you increase the working of the Spirit of God in you through

  • Studying of God’s word
  • Prayer and supplication
  • Fasting
  • Exercise of God’s word, that is being a doer of God’s word
  • Praying in the Spirit

In conclusion, God really wants to do more than you can ask or think but it depends on how much room you have given the Holy Spirit in your life. When you are filled with the Spirit of God (i.e. He is in absolute control of your life), you will be full of God’s mighty power working in you, and that is greater and faster answered prayers.
