Hi, Jesus loves you
Many are working for God but seem not to be getting any rewards, what could be the problem? Acceptable service unto God always attracts rewards from God. God owes no man but handsomely rewards anyone who qualifies for it. This post gives a summary of how to obtain God’s reward.
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him – Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
Do not look upon me, because I am dark, because the sun has tanned me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards, But my own vineyard I have not kept – Song of Solomon 1:6 (NKJV)
‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me – Matthew 15:8 (NKJV)
It’s one thing to qualify for a reward in the sight of men and another to qualify before the Lord. God, who is the rewarder, knows those who are due for rewards at any point in time; and when your cloud is full, surely your showers of blessing will pour down.
How to obtain God’s reward for serving Him
- Do it rightly and acceptably
God rewards you for doing things according to His word and purpose, not according to your own way. When Uzzah tried to steady the ark when the oxen stumbled, God struck him and he died – 2 Samuel 6:6-7. He did a good thing but not the right thing; it was not acceptable before God. Also the lady in Song of Solomon 1:6 was working but not her own work. The work that would fetch her rewards she left undone. There is no pay for unassigned work done.
- Do it joyfully
Serve God with joy and gladness of heart; otherwise, instead of rewards you will get sorrows and losses – Deuteronomy 28:47. God loves cheerful givers – 2 Corinthians 9:7. Give your service with joy and cheerfulness and it will be acceptable before God.
- Serve with all your heart
God’s reward is for those who serve Him with their heart. Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart – 1 Samuel 16:7. God knows if your heart is not in what you are doing (Matthew 15:8); man may reward you for it but not God. And God’s rewards are far better than man’s rewards.
- Serve diligently
God rewards them that diligently seek Him – Hebrews 11:6. When you constantly and earnestly put in effort in doing the will of God, He takes record of it and rewards you greatly in due season. God causes the diligent to stand before kings and not before mean men – Proverbs 22:29
- Labour before God
Put your mind and body to work, let your service be productive. If you sow sparingly you will reap bountifully and if you sow bountifully, you will reap bountifully – 2 Corinthians 9:6. Your labour in the Lord is never in vain – 1 Corinthians 15:58. Everyone receives reward according to their labor.
- Serve in faith
You need to plow in hope and great expectation for rewards. You must serve God, believing that He is and is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him – Hebrews 11:6. Yes, you don’t serve Him just for what He will give you; however, you must believe that He is not a “user of men”, but a rewarder.
- Serve willingly
You receive God’s reward when you serve willingly – 1 Corinthians 9:17. Serve God not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly – 1 Peter 5:2. Service with a willing heart will always attract God’s attention and blessing.
- Serve in love
God can never forget your labor of love – Hebrews 6:10. Any service done without love profits nothing – 1 Corinthians 13:3. God gave His only son Jesus Christ for the world because of the love He has for humanity (John 3:16), and today He has multitudes reconciled back to Him through Christ – 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
- Serve without sin
Sin separates you from God and so keeps any reward from you. Sin hides God’s face from you, so that He will not hear (Isaiah 59:2) or see your service. It makes your labour unacceptable and renders all your efforts useless. So, keep away from sin that God’s reward may come to you.
- Serve tirelessly
Don’t grow weary in your service, for in due season you shall reap if you do not faint – Galatians 6:9. Even if the reward tarries, wait for it because it will surely come – Habakkuk 2:3. Don’t give up at the last-minute; God will not be pleased with you if you draw back – Hebrews 10:38. God is not man that He should lie, what He said He will do He will do.
God truly rewards them that diligently seek Him. Your reward is guaranteed once you are qualified. Therefore, cast not away your confidence which has great reward, for you have need of patience that after you have done the will of God, you might obtain the promise – Hebrews 10:35-36.
