How often are you to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness? Truly, some Christians see seeking God and doing His will as a task. And as long as they see it that way, they will always find it burdensome to obey. Yet, the Lord says that His commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3). The post emphasizes that we are to seek the Kingdom of God as a lifestyle.

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain – Philippians 1:21 (NKJV).

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me – Matthew 16:24 (NLT).

There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death – Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV).

Introduction

Christianity is not a religion per se, it’s a way of life; it’s living as Christ did on earth. And the Lord’s way of life was what gave Him victory over the enemy and success in His mission on earth. As such living like Christ will surely give you victory over the enemy and success in life. And Jesus is the one who said we should seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other thing will be added to us. Therefore seeking God’s kingdom should be our lifestyle.

Why A Lifestyle

As a child of God, to live is to live for Christ. So, every minute we spend on earth is to do things that will always please the Lord. Also, as followers of Jesus, we’re to give up our own way to follow His way. And the truth remains that Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. So, we can never miss the way following Him. And any way outside Christ may seem to be the way, but the end is the way of death.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”- John 14:6 (NKJV).

Furthermore, if you love God, you will obey and please Him at all times, and not occasionally. And seeking God as a lifestyle gives the enemy no room to accuse you or deprive you of your blessings.

If you love Me, keep My commandments – John 14:15 (NKJV).

It’s Not Burdensome

Seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness surely is not burdensome. This is because faithful is He who calls you, who also will do it. Furthermore, the Lord works in you both to will and to do His good pleasure. Therefore, all you need is the willingness to obey the Lord, reach out to Him for help and He will help you to achieve it.

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it – I Thessalonians 5:24 (NKJV).

For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure – Philippians 2:13 (NKJV).

Unfortunately, Christians struggle with obeying God, because they want to still enjoy the world as  Christians. But God said that you can’t love God and mammon; you have to choose one and hate the other.

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon – Matthew 6:24 (NKJV).

Conclusion

As a Christian, seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness is not optional, neither is it to be done occasionally. Rather, it should be your way of life. And the good news is that you’re never alone obeying God.
