Hi, Jesus loves you.
Have you ever valued the bible you have? How will you rank it among your possessions? The bible is the greatest asset one can have here on earth. It is the creator’s manual! This post explains the worth of the word of the Lord.
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:20-23 (NKJV)
Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life. Proverbs 4:13 (NKJV)
The bible is worth your life. It cannot be equated to anything, it is more than gold or any precious stone you adore. It is life and health to you if you find it. It is the connection you have to the wisdom of the Almighty God, the creator of the whole universe.
Studying, believing and walking in the word of the Lord make you a star among stars (Daniel 12:3). It will distinguish you among your equals (Proverbs 22:29) It will truly establish you as co-creator with God (John 14:12). You will be enjoying heaven on earth, joy and peace will be the order of the day (Romans 14:17).
How can this be?
The word of God reveals to you who you are in Christ and your inheritance in Christ (Acts 20:32). It teaches you how to access and sustain them (Romans 4:13-17). It reveals to you your place in destiny (Luke 4:17-21). As you keep feeding yourself with it, you will become more like God (2 Corinthians 3:18), you will think, talk and act more like God. What is not impossible with God will not be impossible with you (Mark 9:23). Life is sweet!
But why is it not so for many?
The enemy has blinded the eyes of men that they cannot see with their eyes nor understand with their heart, so they can exercise their rights and possess their inheritance in Christ (John 12:40).
When you can’t see or understand the worth of the word of God in your life, you will not do much to acquire it. Until, you see it as your life, it will be like other books to you. You may be reading it every day but maybe not as one who needs it to live. We need to study the bible like students getting ready for exams the next day. In our case, however, the exam may be the next minute.
So, what next?
You are to eat the word of God as your necessary food like Jeremiah did (Jeremiah 15:16). It should not be a ritual thing but a need in your life. You need to be hearing from God all the time so you can be successful and victorious in life. It is what you have eaten that you will hear when you need it. If you didn’t eat enough at a time of adversity, you will not have enough to overcome the situation (Proverbs 24:10).
The enemy keeps bringing new things, so you must be very current with the word of God to defeat him at all times. The food you ate yesterday will not be enough for you today! Peter understood this and said they would rather give themselves to the ministry of the word and to prayer than to serve the table (Acts 6:4). The word of God is YOUR LIFE!
Take firm hold of instruction
Do not let go of the word of God, see it, hear it and store it in your heart continually. And guard your heart that nothing takes it from you. Don’t allow the lies of the enemy or the situations around you to steal the word from you. Keep and guard the word like precious treasure that must be acquired and preserved. It determines what you will become in life. IT IS HEALTH AND LIFE TO THEM THAT FIND IT.
