Introduction

Some widows find it difficult to pick up their lives after the death of their husbands. And some others live perpetually under the shadow of their husband’s death, refusing to move forward. They always attribute their predicament to the death of their husbands. However, his death is not meant to be an end for you, but the opening of another chapter of your life. This is the truth!

An Unending Progress

Truly, as a child of God, your life is to be unending progress till you meet your Lord. The scripture in Proverbs 4:18 makes it clear that your path is to keep shining brighter and brighter until the perfect day. So, until it reaches its full strength and glory, it will keep shining brighter and brighter.

But the path of the just (righteous) is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day.”

Proverbs 4:18 AMP

Don’t pity yourself

Therefore, don’t indulge in self-pity, your light won’t stop shining if you don’t cover it with self-pity. What has happened is that you have come to a crossroads. This is where you must stop before making a turn to the right or to the left. And it’s a point you’re to wisely, by the help of the Holy Spirit, decide where to turn to.

Let what has passed pass

Surely, it’s sad that your husband died when he did. However, you can’t turn the hand of the time backward, it can only move on, so let him pass on. Also, let the living ones, including you, continue their lives. What has happened has happened.

Let it go and let God

You have been holding unto your husband, but it’s time to let go of him and hold God. This will enable you to make progress and shine brighter. Also, it’s time to let go of the hurting past and reach forward to the things ahead of you. Furthermore, you’re to press toward fulfilling the purpose of God for your life.

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV

Don’t be in the same spot

Surely, there’s time to grieve but you’re not to grieve like those who have no hope. Your hope is in God who never fails. So, do move on, and don’t remain in the same spot. Even the Lord told the children of Israel to move forward, though the Red Sea was before them. However, when they obeyed, ready to move forward, the way through the Red Sea was revealed to them. Therefore, take a decision to continue your progress, and God will show you the way forward.

When one door closes, other doors will open

God is able to open new doors for you that no man can shut because He loves and cares for you. He will not allow the enemy to shut down all doors against you. So, when you turn to Him, He will show you the well of water in the wilderness, as He did for Hagar (Genesis 21:19).

Conclusion

You’re redeemed for unending progress, don’t settle for less no matter what may have happened. Surely, the Almighty God is on the throne to help you continue the course of your life in Christ. Therefore, truly let go and let God lead you.
