Who doesn’t need wisdom? Wisdom is the principal thing and having her gives you the greatest asset ever. Everyone needs her to successfully live on earth and afterwards have eternal life in heaven. Jesus needed wisdom to walk successfully on earth and to fulfil His destiny. This post considers the Master’s wisdom walk while on earth.

And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men – Luke 2:40, 52 (NKJV).

And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! – Mark 6:2 (NKJV).

Wisdom is an important key to victorious living and the Lord had to embrace her too. Jesus Christ came into this world as a baby and grew like a normal child. One of the major virtues He had to acquire as He grew was wisdom. He was first filled with wisdom, but He didn’t stop there, He had to increase in wisdom as He grew. He knew that wisdom was a virtue He must build on consistently for Him to fulfil His purpose on earth.

Let’s consider some of the Master’s wisdom walk while on earth

Relationship with parents

Jesus knew who He was as a child but wisdom taught Him to obey His parents, following their instructions. When He was twelve He stayed back at Jerusalem after the feast to be about His Father’s business, however, when His parents found Him, He returned with them and was subject to them without any challenge (Luke 2:49-51).

Relationship with people

Wisdom taught Christ how to relate with people at different times. He did not entrust Himself to any man (John 2:24). He knew who to walk with and when to withdraw. He related with men with great humility that the soldiers when they were sent to arrest Him needed a lead to who the Master was among others.

Success in life

The level of wisdom the Lord manifested gave Him great success in life. He always knew what to do per time (John 6:6). Wisdom led Him to fast and prayer before commencing His ministry fully (Matthew 4:1-2, 17). He also sought God’s face in prayer before choosing His twelve apostles (Luke 6:12-13). He knew to always go back to the Father for spiritual reinforcement, for by strength shall no man prevail (1 Samuel 2:9). Though He was God, He knew when not to walk in the midst of the people and to keep away (John 7:6-10). He didn’t act foolishly at all and so the priests and the leaders couldn’t get Him till it was their time ordained by God (Luke 22:52-53).

Victory over His enemies

You cannot overcome your enemies (the devil being your chief enemy) without being wiser than they are. Christ obviously defeated His enemies and He went ahead to tell His disciples that He would give them a mouth and a wisdom which their adversaries would not be able to contradict nor resist (Luke 21:15), thereby revealing the key to His victory over His adversaries. At one time, the Pharisees wanted to catch Him in His words and they brought up the issue of paying taxes to Caesar. The answer He gave them made them to marvel at Him, leaving Him alone (Mark 12:13-17).

Temptation

Christ was tempted but He didn’t fall because of the wisdom of God in Him. The devil tempted Him in the three major areas: lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life, but He didn’t fall for any (Matthew 4:1-11). He overcame using the word of God which was His guide. He knew not to gratify His fleshly desires for a moment and jeopardize His destiny forever.

Signs and wonders

The Master’s wisdom walk on earth also resulted in great signs and wonders. In Mark 6:2, the mighty works Jesus did were attributed to the wisdom He had. Operating in the wisdom of God empowers you to do great exploits for Christ, signs and wonders.

In conclusion, if our Master Jesus Christ needed wisdom to successfully live on earth and fulfil His purpose, we need her more. Know that every action carried out towards increasing your wisdom level will not go unnoticed, for it will distinguish you, bring you before kings and empower you to fulfil your own God ordained purpose in life. Therefore, arise and go for wisdom from today.

Jesus is Lord!
