Are you downcast? This is a year pregnant with great treasures and full of glory. Also, this New Year speaks of new things, new beginnings, new exploits, new life, new stories and testimonies! So, will you allow hopelessness to rob you of these blessings? I think not, so get set for the best of times this year as we look into the place of hope in this New Year.
Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God – Psalm 42:11 (NKJV)
For a righteous man may fall seven times. And rise again, but the wicked shall fall by calamity – Proverbs 24:16 (NKJV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths – Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)
Introduction
No matter what may have happened last year or how you fell below your expectations, let go of it; just dust your buttocks, gather your things, and go again. Surely, a righteous man falls seven times and rises again. As such, no matter how many times you may have fallen, arise and get on your journey. This is because there is light at the end of the tunnel and fresh water is waiting for you there. But how will you see and enjoy it if you throw in your towel and are hopeless? Truly, the place of hope in this New Year can not be ignored.
God is on your side
God is the Lord, that is why you were not consumed (Malachi 3:6) last year. Certainly, the enemy wanted your end but God’s mercy prevailed. So, why would He, who saved you last year, not take you through this year? Therefore, only hope in God Almighty. You must have hope if this year is to yield her increase to you.
God does not fail those who put their faith in Him. But for you to have faith in God you must have hope. Truly, your faith can never work without hope because faith is the substance of things hoped for – Hebrews 11:1. And you cannot exercise faith in a situation you see as a hopeless one. This year for sure is not a hopeless one.
The Word gives hope
The word of God is the bank for hope seeds. So, any scripture you believe and receive will build up your hope in that situation that relates to the scripture. Therefore, the more word of God you feed on, the more hope you acquire. And that means a most fulfilling year. So, what you need to do is to search the scriptures and load yourself with hope seeds.
Conclusion
You may fail when your hope is in man but not when your hope is in God. He is faithful and reliable. And He is not a man that He should lie. Furthermore, what He says is what He does. Surely, hope in God makes all the difference! So, consider the place of hope in this New Year.
Enjoy a most fruitful year in Jesus name.
Jesus is Lord!

Ngozi, Hope has been an evasive word for my brain and my spirit to try and pin down and come to an understanding of, and which fully jives with all that I know of God my Savior. For me your statement, “But for you to have faith in God you must have hope. Your faith can never work without hope because faith is the substance of things hoped for…” was inspired by the Holy Spirit, it was the missing piece of the puzzle.
I “get” the interrelationship between love, peace, joy, mercy, grace, and a thousand other terms, but that sentence welded the last link into the chain. I had an empty balloon in my brain called “hope”, and your words were like helium inflating it and causing it to rise up to its intended purpose. Praise God!
Wow! Glory to God!
Thanks Roy for your comment.
