The Bible is a wellspring of wisdom, the bank of God’s wisdom, offering insights that can help believers navigate life’s complexities. This is the truth because it is the words of the only wise God. And He had said He would give freely to whoever asks.
To God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. – Amen. Jude 1:25 (NKJV)
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 (NKJV)
However, you need to know that the beginning of wisdom is reverence for God. Surely without the fear of God you will not receive the Lord’s counsel, not to talk of obeying it. So, to benefit from this source of wisdom you must first have the fear of God.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding – Proverbs 9:10 (NKJV)
How does the bible operate as the source of wisdom?
1. Life Skills
It teaches skills for managing various aspects of life, including success, finances, relationships, and leadership. This gives you practical steps or requirements, and life scenarios that will help you make the right choices. And it increases your chances to do better in life.
For instance:
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 (NKJV)
The above scripture makes it clear that you have to do more to escape poverty as much as possible. Also, it makes clear which status you need to attain to enjoy the life God has given you.
Another example is 2 Timothy 3:16-17:
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
This emphasizes the importance of the scriptures in equipping us for every good work.
2. Understanding Human Nature
When you understand a man, then you will know how to relate with the person in order to live in peace with him or her. And the Bible provides profound insights into human behavior and motivation.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? – Jeremiah 17:9 (NKJV)
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God – Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
The above scriptures make it clear that you can’t put your trust in man, and you shouldn’t expect too much from him either. So, while you walk in love towards men according to the scriptures, you put all your trust in God.
Christ, understanding the nature of men, never gave Himself to them even though they believed in Him and were all around Him.
Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the signs which He did. But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man. John 2:23-25
So, the bible prepares you to respond well to anybody, no matter the situation and not hurt yourself in the process.
3. Consequences of Actions
We’re created as creatures of choice, in the image of God. However, the ability to make choices goes with taking responsibility for their outcomes. Unfortunately, many people celebrate the ability to make their choices, while not considering the consequences of their choices. This had led such persons to points of regret without remedy. However, had they consulted the bible and followed the instructions, they would have escaped the agony of their predicament.
The bible explains the long-term effects of wise or foolish choices, leaving us to decide while clearly pointing out the wise choice.
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life – Galatians 6:7-8 (NKJV)
There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. Proverbs 14:12 (NKJV)
4. Counseling Resource
People pass through a lot of challenges, some of which are of their making while some are not. And while some persons respond well to these challenges, others get swallowed up by them. For everyone responds or reacts according to the information available to them.
The bible is full life scenarios that we can learn from; examples of both positive and negative situations. Furthermore, it provides answers to all questions and solutions to all challenges. And it serves as a foundational resource for pastoral care and counseling
The scriptures give vivid steps to take to come out of any predicament and gives guidelines on how to get to your desired destination. Indeed, the bible is a profound book for living a victorious and exciting life
Or whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4 (NKJV)
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work – 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
Conclusion
Surely, the bible is the main source of God’s wisdom. so, studying the word of God and walking in it enables you act wisely even as God. And this enables you to navigate on earth successfully, being ahead of your enemies
