Are you a beneficiary of sacrifice? Sacrifice is not easy to engage in, yet it is the key that unlocks many gates to people’s deliverances and blessings. It is one of the secrets of supernatural breakthroughs. This post gives a summary of the power and blessings of sacrifice, most of which is from a teaching by Bishop David Abioye on the “Force of Sacrifice.” I believe it will minister to you as it ministered to me.
Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy. He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him – Psalms 126:5-6 (NKJV).
Sacrifice is done in tears and in pain but the person engaging in it reaps in joy and bountifully. The returns are normally fearful because they are beyond what can be explained by the human mind. It is God’s ordained gateway to a new dawn, glorious beginnings and series of breakthroughs.
What is sacrifice?
It is giving out things that are precious and valuable to you; it talks about the cost and not the volume, the quality and not the quantity of what you are giving. Furthermore, sacrifice is parting away with your goods with weeping. The process is painful but gainful at the end.
Benefits of the altar of sacrifice
- It reverses curses (Genesis 8:20-21)
- It is the altar of enactment of covenant (Psalm 50:5)
- It is the altar of termination of plaques (2 Samuel 24:22-25)
- It is the altar of supernatural turnaround (1 Kings 17:8-16)
When to sacrifice
- Whenever things look tight (1 Kings 17:8-16)
- When God instructs you to do so (Genesis 22:1-3)
- When you are delightsomely prompted to do so (1 Kings 3:3-5)
How to make your sacrifice acceptable
- Give yourself first to God (2 Corinthians 8:1-5)
- Give it for the love you have for God (1 Kings 3:3)
- Give willingly (Genesis 22:9-10)
- Give in worship of God ( Genesis 22:5)
- Give expectantly ( Hebrews 11:17-18)
Biblical examples
Widow of Zarephath – 1 Kings 17:8-16
The widow of Zarephath sacrificed the only handful of flour and little oil she had for her son and herself to eat during a drought (cause of the famine in the land), and God gave her food to eat till rain started falling again for crops to grow. She experienced supernatural turnaround through her sacrifice.
Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac – Genesis 22:1-19
God instructed Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac, whom he waited for years to have. Abraham went ahead to do so, willingly, in worship of God and with expectation that God will raise Isaac up from the dead (Hebrews 11:17-18). At the end, God provided the animal used for the sacrifice and He enacted a covenant of blessings, multiplication and dominion with Abraham and his descendants, which is still speaking till today.
The death of Jesus Christ – John 3:16, 2 Corinthians 5:17-19)
God also sacrificed his only begotten son for the world, so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. The Almighty Father sacrificed His best to reconcile the world to Himself, and today multitudes are returning back to Him.
In conclusion, sacrifice may the answer to the challenge you are facing today. There are numerous testimonies that emanated from the altar of sacrifice. Nobody gives an acceptable sacrifice and remains the same. Act on this summary today and you will be sharing your testimony sooner than you expect.
