The Word of Christ

Hi, Jesus loves you.

Jesus started with the word and will end with the word. An understanding of how powerful Jesus’ words are will give you peace and victory in life. It will make you a master over the enemy and challenges of life.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made – John 1:1-3 (NKJV)

He is the sole expression of the glory of God [the Light-being, the out-raying or radiance of the divine], and He is the perfect imprint and very image of [God’s] nature, upholding and maintaining and guiding and propelling the universe by His mighty word of power… – Hebrews 1:3 (AMP, emphasis mine)

And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh – Revelations 19:19, 21 (NKJV, emphasis mine)

Jesus Christ is the Word

John 1:1 and Revelation 19:13 tell you that Jesus is the word of God. You can’t separate Christ from His word. Jesus is the word of God that became flesh and dwelt among men – John 1:14

An understanding of this truth will help you realize that the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation speak Christ. For example the lifted brazen serpent in the time of Moses represented Jesus on the cross – John 3:14. Everyone that looked upon the serpent was healed of the snake bite and lived – Numbers 21:9. So also, anyone who believes on the lifted Christ will not perish but have eternal life – John 3:15

Furthermore, Christ also confirmed it in John 5:46-47 (NKJV), when He said, “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” The scriptures and words of Christ are one. Christ is the word of God and all the books of the bible, including the books of Moses, talk about Him. An understanding of this will give you clearer meaning of what is written in the scriptures.

Created the world by His word

God created the world by His word. Throughout the history of creation, you will keep seeing ‘God said… and it was so’ – Genesis 1. God spoke the universe into existence; by His spoken words, everything came to be. All things were made through Christ (the word), and without Him nothing was made that was made (John 1:3), whether visible or invisible, thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16).

I can’t imagine how Christ felt when He came into the world, made through Him, and His very own didn’t receive Him – John 1:10-11. It must have been very disappointing to Him. The nature you see and adore was made by Jesus. This is the reason why, everything created obey His words: the wind, sea, trees, animals, birds and fishes.

For instance, Mark 4:35-41 gives a record of the wind and waves obeying Christ. A great windstorm arose and the waves beat into the boat that was carrying Jesus and His apostles, so that it got filled. When they woke Jesus from sleep, He rebuked the wind and commanded the sea to be still. And the wind ceased and there was peace on the sea.

Another time, in Mark 11:12-14, 20-21, when a fig tree mocked Christ by not having any fruit though it was full of leaves, Jesus cursed it with His words and by the next day the tree was dried up from its root.

The creative power of Christ’s words is still in force. Things are still created by His words through the faith of believers. This is why the blind can see by the word of God and limbs grow out by His word too. And a barren woman can give birth without medical intervention.

Maintained the world by His word

The world, having been created by the word of God, is also maintained by His word – Hebrews 1:3. Job gave us an understanding that the earth is hanging on nothing (Job 26:7). The word of God spoke it into being and it is still hanging in her position till now. The word of God acts as the pillars supporting the earth.

In Genesis 8:22, God said, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” By this declaration He maintained the change of weather, and it had been so ever since.

And so, when things are not working in your life according to what God said in His word, you only engage the same word of God to ensure that they revert back to what God said concerning it.

For instance, if you are afflicted in your body and you serve God with all your heart, you can hold unto Exodus 23:25, which says that God will take away sickness from your midst and declare it over you, and it will be so.

Destroy His enemies by His word

On the day of the great battle, Jesus Christ will destroy His enemies by his words also. The sword that will come out of His mouth will destroy them – Revelations 19:19-21. The beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, will gather together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army, and there will be no war as such because the sword from the Lord’s mouth, which is His word (Ephesians 6:17), will destroy them.

Our warfare is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces (Ephesians 6:12) and so will not require physical weapons but spiritual weapons, the word of God being a major weapon – the sword. When you overcome in the spirit realm, you overcome in the physical too.

Jesus never needed more than His words to heal or deliver anyone. He only had to say the word and the demons would flee. The centurion in Matthew 8:5-13, knew this and requested that Jesus should just say the word and his servant would be made whole and it was so when Jesus said, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.”

Also, when He raised the son of the widow of Nain (Luke 7:11-17), He only said, “Young man, I say to you, arise” and he who was dead sat up and began to speak. Christ destroys His enemies by His word. And the enemies of a believer are the enemies of Christ: the devil and the evil spirits that work for him.

Victory by His word

Therefore your victory in life is also by His word! Jesus Christ has given you a mouth which your enemies will not be able to contradict or resist – Luke 21:15. You also will defeat your enemies by the word of God that comes out of your mouth. It calls for you to let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16) so that you can open your mouth and declare it when the need arises.

So, if you want to live a victorious life, you need to eat the word of Christ, drink, breathe, think, imagine and expect it at all times. Let your being be full of it, so that whenever you are squeezed you will only bring out the word of Christ. When you store the word of God in your heart, you will believe in your heart but confession is made unto salvation with your mouth – Romans 10:10.

Your victory lies in you opening your mouth wide and declaring the word of Christ in all situations, and God will subdue your enemies and turn His hand against your adversaries – Psalm 81:10-14. Your enemies are not submitting to you because they have not heard you, as soon as they hear you they will obey you – Psalm 18:44

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6), and since Jesus is the Word, then the word of God is the way, the truth and the life. Also, since the just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17) and faith comes by hearing the word (Romans 10:17), then, the just shall live by the word of Christ. Therefore, the word of Jesus is the A-Z of a victorious life.

The word of the Lord offers you guidance and direction, gives you wisdom for your daily activities and equips you with excellence and integrity. It molds your character and ensures success in your entire endeavours. It is the major key to success in life. Accept it, act on it and you will be a beneficiary of its amazing results.
