Is the Lord your Shepherd? In this present time that many people are struggling to make ends meet, you need a shepherd. Also, you have to ensure that he is not a hireling in a shepherd’s clothing.

Who Is A shepherd

He is one who feeds, tends, protects, and leads flocks of sheep. And he stays with the sheep day and night and the sheep go where he goes. Also, the sheep know their shepherd’s voice and will not follow another.

Christian Leaders As Shepherds

Leaders are considered to be shepherds over their followers because the characteristics of a shepherd are associated with them. These include Christian leaders. As such the followers expect them to feed them with the word of God, tend, protect and lead them in the ways of the Lord.

Good Shepherd

However, there are good and bad shepherds. And the bad ones are the hirelings, who don’t care about the sheep and flee when there’s danger. However, a good shepherd will give his life for the sheep. And no other shepherd is as good as our Lord Jesus, who gave Himself for the whole world. Furthermore, He knows us by our names and those who are His also know Him.

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own.

– John 10:11-14 NKJV

The Lord Is Your Shepherd You Shall Not Want

As a Christian believer, you have Jesus as your Shepherd, who cares for you. So, He feeds you very well, tends, protects and leads you all the time. And as your good Shepherd you will not want any good thing in life as you follow His instructions. Also, He knows your needs and will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory. In addition, He prepares great blessings for you before your enemies, and they can’t stop you from enjoying them.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

-Psalms 23:1-6 NKJV

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

– Psalms 84:11 NKJV

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

-Philippians 4:19 NKJV

Surely, life is not easy now, but you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. And this includes getting your needs met. Therefore, you have no reason to fear or entertain anxiety in your life. This is because Jesus is your good Shepherd and so your ‘All Sufficient God’.
