Many widows wonder what they will do now that their husbands are no more around. This I will briefly talk about.

A widow is one who lost her husband to death and is not yet married. Nothing changed in her except the things associated with her late husband.

What real widows do

Now, the word of God says that God is the defender of the widows, and so in this God fully replaces their husband. As such their allegiance is to the Lord, their present sole defender. So, they spend time in supplications and prayers, putting their whole trust in their defender.

Now she who is really a widow, and left alone, trusts in God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day. But she who lives in pleasure is dead while she lives. And these things command that they may be blameless. – I Timothy 5:5-7 NKJV

But those who are not real widows want to enjoy the benefits of marriage while unmarried. They go to men to ask for money and to satisfy themselves. This is a sin and the scripture says that those who do such things are dead while they live.

Real widows, till they remarry; spend the time they would have spent caring for their husbands or being with them in praying for themselves and others. And their total trust is in God.

Example

And an example of a real widow is Prophetess Anna (Luke 2:36-38). After her husband died, seven years into their marriage, she spent the rest of her life serving God in prayers and fasting. And she built up her relationship with God to the point that He revealed baby Jesus and His mission to her.

Word to a widow

So, dear sister, while you wait to remarry if that is your desire, put all your trust in the Lord. Also, spend time in supplications and prayers. And keep away from sin no matter the pressure from the enemy; otherwise, you will be dead while you live.

Furthermore, for you to truly trust God absolutely, you need to build a relationship first with Him. And this you may do through the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because He is the way, the truth, and the life. And except you accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, you will not have access to the Almighty God.

Conclusion

Widowhood is just a phase in the life of a woman. However, when she responds well by giving herself to supplications and prayers they bring her closer to her mighty defender.
