Why is God’s glory difficult to see in our present churches? Surely, some Christians have wondered about this in their hearts and may have mentioned it to two or three persons. And yet some Christians haven’t noticed! Now, which category do you fall under?
The Norm In Many Churches
Certainly, some people go to church and participate in the programme for the service from beginning to end, but return the same way. They didn’t encounter God through the word preached or any part of the service. However, when you ask how the service was, the usual answer will be “Great!” These ones have a form of godliness but they deny the power thereof.
Having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! – 2 Timothy 3:5 (NKJV).
Also, some Christians do go to church, get one or two things from the service but are not ignited spiritually by them. Rather, they become additional knowledge in their storehouse. Maybe, they didn’t mix the received word with faith.
For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it – Hebrews 4:2 (NKJV).
It’s Business As Usual
It’s sad that many people go to church because it is Sunday and Christians go to Church on Sundays. As such they go with no preparation or expectation. So, they go and return the same way. Also, even the key ministers see it as another Sunday. So, the choir just rehearses a song and comes and sings, the preachers prepare their messages and come and deliver them. And other service units ensure they do their normal duties and go. In the end, everyone goes home believing they have served. But, where was the fire? Did the glory of God come down? Was there a revival? And did people make commitments to change certain things in their lives and follow God totally?
What was missing?
The people were not prepared to see the glory of God! God reveals Himself to the extent to which you prepare to see Him. And He draws Himself to you to the extent to which you draw to Him. Also, He will approach those who have cleaned up because He is too holy to behold iniquity.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded – James 4:8 (NKJV).
You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, And cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours A person more righteous than he? – Habakkuk 1:13 (NKJV).
Therefore, when one person prepares to meet with God, He will visit him. Then, when the whole congregation prepares to see God, His glory will come down and all will see Him!
Jesus is Lord!

Thanks for this message. It is true when we prepare to meet God we witness His glory. Matthew 7:7 ” Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Jesus is seated and the right hand of God always ready to sort us. When Jesus went to His home in Nazareth and His village mates doubted Him He did not perform miracles because they were not prepared to experience His mighty works. Mark 6:4-13 ” And because of their unbelief, he could not do any miracles among them”
Thanks Peter for this contribution.
God bless you
